Here comes the Steel...
Anytime there is a crane onsite, exciting things are happening. The photo above is taken from the Concession Building looking East at the Addition. Over the last couple weeks, several of the steel columns and beams have been installed and the large curved trusses are due to be installed in the next couple weeks. Alyssa Fee from KJWW Engineeering is the structural engineer for the project and she met with the Niles North Architecture/Engineering class on November 1 to discuss some of the engineering challenges with the project and to give the students an overview of the Structural Engineering profession.

Welcome...
I wanted to create a forum that would allow me to provide construction updates for the Aquatics Center, as well as give an opportunity for students/staff to ask questions about the facility or Architecture/Construction in general. Many look at construction as an inconvienence, but I look at this project as a learning opportunity for the students of District 219.
